What You Just Learned

One Number Repainted the Whole Page

What You Just Did

When you moved the slider, a small program took your number, calculated a new set of colors, and swapped them into the page while you watched.

The Idea behind It

  • Variables and Events: The page listens for you to move the slider and stores your choice in a variable.
  • Color Math: Every color is calculated so text stays readable at every level, from 1% to 100%.
  • Saving a Preference: Your browser remembers your setting for the next visit.
  • Accessibility: The program checks contrast so people with low vision can still read the page.

Where You Would Learn This

CSE 110 Introduction to Programming, WDD 130 Web Fundamentals, and WDD 131 Dynamic Web Fundamentals, all in your first two semesters.

A computer can change a color. A person decides whether everyone can still read it.

Student Work

Built by Students. Used by People.

Apps people use. Tools that solve real problems. Devices that respond. Every project here started as a student’s idea and became something real.

Cloud setup is a maze. Seth King built a way through. With Archon, you drag a cloud system together, catch security holes, see the cost up front, and ship it to AWS in one click.

Alex Dombroski wanted custom code snippets without the hassle, so he built Snippet Studio for VS Code. He learned TypeScript to make it, then gave it away as open source.

Where Projects Happen

You Build from Day One to Graduation

Projects are not saved for senior year. They are built into every stage of the degree, and the Computing Society adds even more.

  1. Freshman Discovery Project

In your second semester, team up to build something real and discover the kind of work you love. CSE 199R

  2. Product Development Project

Plan, build, and launch a product with a team, just like the pros. CSE 399R

  3. Internship

Put your skills to work for a real company, usually between semesters. CSE 398

  4. Senior Project

Finish with a capstone you will be proud to show any employer or graduate school. CSE 499
