Overview

Code review activities help you practice giving and receiving constructive feedback, which is an essential skill for software developers. As you review your teammates' work, you will see different coding styles, identify common issues, and apply best practices. Your feedback will also help your teammates improve code quality before moving on to the next assignment.

Code Reviews in Industry

Code reviews are a standard software development practice used to improve quality, maintainability, and team consistency. They help identify bugs early, improve readability, and strengthen technical communication across a team.

Activity Instructions

Complete the following steps to share your individual GitHub repository with your team in preparation for next week's code review assignment.

  1. Go to your team's channel in Microsoft Teams.
  2. In your team's channel (not the General channel), open the Shared tab where team documents are stored.
  3. Look for a document called team-membership.docx.
    • If you do not see this document, create a new blank file named team-membership.docx for your team.
    • Open the team-membership.docx document.
  4. Add your name and the Week 01 assignment repository named wdd430-portfolio to a numbered list of team members. If you are the first person, enter 1. next to your name. If you are the second, enter 2., and continue the list in sequential order.

    You will create the wdd430-portfolio repository in this week's assignment.

The membership file content should look something like this:

1. Jeff White - https://github.com/jeff-white/wdd430-portfolio
2. Adriana Cuevas  - https://github.com/adriana28218/wdd430-portfolio
3. Wisdom Bentum - https://github.com/bentumwi/wdd430-portfolio

Important!

Include a sequential number next to your name because that number determines who you review each week. (For example: "Team member 1 reviews team member 3's code.") It is critical to list your name and repository URL correctly. If this information is missing or incorrect, teammates will not be able to review your work.

Submission Instructions

After you add your name and repository URL to the team membership file, return to Canvas and complete the associated quiz to report on this task completion.
