W05 Team Activity: Absent from Meeting Checklist
Overview
Learning to work with others is critical to getting a software development job, and it is an important outcome of the BYU-Idaho Software Development Program.
To help develop this skill, in this course you review other students code and meet them weekly to work on exercises together. You should do all you can to attend these meetings in person. If you need to miss a meeting for special circumstances, it should be an exception.
Respect and Business Etiquette
In a business setting, it is expected that you communicate with your team or manager before missing a meeting, but if you cannot, you should send a message as quickly as possible after the meeting to explain why you missed.
If you are unable to attend your team's synchronous meeting, complete the following checklist.
Checklist to Follow
- Notify your team members ahead of time that you will be absent from the meeting by posting a message in your team channel in Microsoft Teams. If you were not able to do this before the meeting, send a follow-up message apologizing for missing the meeting.
- Complete the steps of the team activity by yourself.
- Write 1-2 paragraphs explaining the most important things you learned from the team activity. Please include any questions you have about the activity. Post this to your team channel in Microsoft Teams.
If you were not present in the meeting, you should have at least one post in your team channel.
Submission
Once you have finished the team activity and the steps of this checklist, complete the Team Activity quiz in Canvas.
