Transcript: Creating and posting content on LinkedIn
Creating content on LinkedIn is another great way to market yourself to potential employers and rank higher in recruiter searches. There have been several BYU-Idaho students offered positions just because employers were impressed with the content that they posted on LinkedIn.
A good rule of thumb is to post once a week, but if you want to post more often that is even better.
Here is a list of possible ideas for creating a post on LinkedIn:
• Share professional achievements.
• Praise people that inspire you.
• Talk about challenges you overcame.
• Answer a common question you get asked.
• Create or share an infographic.
• Share the story of how you got to where you are.
• Share what you learned from the last book you read.
• Share your best productivity or time-saving hack.
• Share something you learned during an informational interview.
While creating content on LinkedIn, make sure that you are part of the conversation.
Comment on posts in your feed, especially posts from companies you are interested in working for one day. Make sure you are following companies that interest you, so you see their posts. You can share your opinion about a specific topic, ask questions, or share any insights relevant to the conversation. Also, pay attention to your notifications so you can congratulate people for new positions, birthdays, and anniversaries at their companies.
By following these steps employers will be able to see the value and knowledge that you have as a person and as a potential employee. Most LinkedIn users do not post content, in fact only 1% do, so you have a great opportunity to really stand out.
