Transcript: Managing your network contacts
Now that you have been connecting with a lot of people, it is a good idea to find a way to manage and organize your network.
You have put so much effort into making connections that you don’t want to lose track or forget to follow up on them later. Things to make sure you are always keeping track of are:
• The Professional’s name and contact information.
• The date you had your informational interview.
• Their company and position.
• Any Informational interview takeaways.
• Assignments you were given or items you want to take action on.
• Any referrals you were given.
• And the date you plan to follow up with them.
Regardless of what system you choose, make sure it will help you be organized instead of complicating things.
Here are a few ideas that you can choose from to manage your network.
You can keep track of all your progress in an excel or google sheet. One benefit is you can easily edit your information and have it all in one place.
Some people prefer to have everything on paper, so you could also opt for the traditional notebook.
But if you would like to keep track of everything on your phone, you can also find an app that might work for you.
Another helpful suggestion to remember when to follow-up with your network is to set up reminders in your email calendar. Then you don’t have to stress about remembering when to reach out because you will get a notification.
Good luck with managing your network!
